Because your brushes, sponges and blenders come into contact with your skin every day, regular cleaning is a must. That is hygienic and works much more pleasant!
3 reasons why you prefer to keep your beauty tools clean
Your brushes and sponges last much longer, you have less chance of clogged pores and impurities and you can apply and work out your makeup much nicer.
So you clean your brushes.
Use your foundation, then it is important to clean your tool every day. It is easier to spray a special brush cleaner on the hairs. This prevents bacteria from developing and your brushes get a nice, fresh scent. Brushes with synthetic hairs dry out faster, so use them, be extra careful.
Once a week you perform a thorough cleaning. Prepare a soapy water of lukewarm water and a mild soap (or shampoo) and move your brush up and down. Then squeeze out well and rinse. Continue until the water remains completely clean and clear. Squeeze out the excess water from the brush, apply it and let it dry lying on a towel.
Tip: to clean brushes that you use for cream makeup (such as foundation, cream eye shadow or concealer), mix some olive oil with soap. This way you get rid of the crumbled leftovers much easier!
This is the sponge of yours squeaky clean.
The sponges with which you apply foundation can be rinsed under the tap after every use. And this also applies: once a week they earn a large cleaning. Wet your sponges, put a drop of liquid soap or shower gel on it and squeeze the sponge so that the soap is well distributed. Then rinse the sponges under the tap.
Do you prefer a clean sponge every day, then it’s smart to have a stock in your home. You pick a new one every morning, throw it in a container after use and once a week clean it all at once.
Tip: make it even easier for yourself: sponges can only be used in the washing machine at 40 degrees. Put them in a laundry bag to protect them and of course do not throw them at the white laundry!
So you clean your beauty blender.
You also need to clean your beauty blender regularly, so that bacteria do not stand a chance. Wet the sponge well and apply the solid cleanser that was made especially for the beauty blender. Massage the soap into the sponge and squeeze well so that the soap is distributed. Rinse the blender under the tap. Repeat until the water you press from the sponge is completely clear.
Do not: never put your beauty blender in a sealed plastic box or in your closed make-up bag. You then run the risk of mold formation. Keep your sponge in a breathable bag or let it dry in a well-ventilated room.
Tip: use an antibacterial soap (such as Dettol) if you want your beauty blender extra clean. Or put it in a bowl of water in the microwave after cleaning. After about 2 minutes all bacteria are gone!
